Abstract

The integration of digital Learning Management Systems (LMS) in design education has the potential to significantly enhance creativity and collaboration among students. This study explores the impact of LMS on fostering creative and collaborative learning environments in design programs. By leveraging digital tools such as discussion forums, virtual studios, and collaborative project management features, LMS can transform traditional pedagogical approaches, making them more interactive and engaging. Employing a mixed-methods research design, this study combines quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with students, educators, and administrators in design schools. The research aims to assess how LMS features contribute to improved student engagement, creativity, and collaboration. Preliminary findings indicate that LMS tools facilitate real-time communication, streamline project workflows, and provide a platform for peer feedback and critique, all of which are crucial for the iterative design process. Furthermore, the study identifies key challenges such as varying levels of digital literacy, the need for adequate technical support, and resistance to change among some educators and students. Despite these challenges, the overall impact of LMS on design education is positive, with significant improvements observed in student collaboration and creative output. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that the effective implementation of LMS in design education can enhance creativity and collaboration, ultimately leading to better educational outcomes. It underscores the need for continuous support and training for both students and educators to fully realize the benefits of digital learning tools. These findings provide valuable insights for educational institutions seeking to modernize their design programs and foster a more dynamic and collaborative learning environment.
