Abstract

This paper explores the unique and evolving understanding of Palestinian rights (or what is called today more FreePalestine) and the narratives within Generation Z, the Generation born between (1997-2012). This Generation has grown up in an era defined by digital technology, social media, and significant geopolitical and sociopolitical events and movements, shaping a critical and informed perspective on global issues, including the Palestinian struggle. Unlike previous generations, Gen-Z has unprecedented access to diverse sources of information and real-time updates, fostering greater empathy and activism. This Generation engages deeply with social justice movements, leveraging platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok to mobilize support for Palestinian rights. The paper draws parallels between the Palestinian cause and other generations, besides other global movements for justice and equality, reinforcing their commitment to intersectional solidarity, which became clear during the War on Gaza that started in October 2023. The author relates how educational shifts and exposure to diverse narratives have further informed their understanding, leading to a more nuanced and balanced view. This paper argues that Gen-Z’s engagement with the Palestinian cause is characterized by digital activism, intersectional advocacy, and critical media consumption. The synthesis and the conclusion show a significant departure from the perspectives of previous generations, suggesting a future of increased support for Palestinian self-determination and human rights.
