EFFECT OF HE–NE LASER IRRADIATION ON ARACHIS HYPOGAEA SEED TO STUDY GERMINATION AND VIGOUR INDEX
Keywords:
Laser Irradiation, Germination Index, Electrical Conductivity, Vigour IndexAbstract
The effect of He-Ne Laser irradiation on Groundnut seeds as a potential mean to accelerate the germination rate has been investigated. Germination tests were carried out on TAG-24 Verity of Groundnut at varying time period such as 2 min,4 min and 6 min. and control. Germination capacity, seed vigour, electrical conductivity were tested. The results showed that He-Ne Laser irradiation could significantly affect the final germination percentage (FGP). In present investigation He-Ne irradiation treatment for 4 minute duration germination percentage significantly improved.
