Abstract

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin is a widely used polymer with applications in the packaging, textile, and automotive industries. However, the quality of PET resin is highly dependent on the catalyst used in its production, which can significantly affect its molecular weight, melting point, and crystallinity. In this study, we developed and optimized a novel catalyst for the production of high-quality PET resin. The new catalyst was characterized and compared to existing catalysts using various analytical techniques. The effect of different parameters, such as temperature, pressure, and concentration, on the PET resin production process was investigated using a Design of Experiments (DOE) approach. Results showed that the new catalyst produced PET resin with superior properties compared to existing catalysts and industry standards. The mathematical relationships between the different variables were also investigated and presented in the form of equations. Our findings suggest that the new catalyst has the potential to significantly improve the quality and efficiency of PET resin production.
