TRENDS IN GROSS ENROLMENT RATIO: A STUDY ON THE IMPACT OF RUSA IN INDIAN HIGHER EDUCATION

Rashtriya Uchchtar Shiksha Abhiyan, shortly RUSA, is a centrally sponsored scheme launched in the year 2013 aimed at revamping higher education in India by providing strategic funding to the state's higher educational institutions. One of the scheme's aims was to increase the gross enrollment ratio (GER) in higher education. The present paper attempts to study the impact of the RUSA scheme on GER in higher education in India. The paper is theoretical, based on secondary sources of data, and the discussion method was employed to present the paper.
