Abstract

Human Resource Management (HRM) is crucial in shaping the educational landscape of Dehradun, a city recognized for its academic institutions and educational growth. This paper examines the roles of HRM in the education sector, focusing on recruitment, training and development, performance management, and employee relations. Through a study involving 50 educators in Dehradun, key insights into the impact of HRM practices on educational outcomes were uncovered. Participants, with an average age of 36.5 years, predominantly held Master’s degrees (54%) and worked in private institutions (56%). Findings indicated that 60% had received formal training in the past year, correlating with a notable difference in job satisfaction: those trained reported a mean score of 4.0, compared to 2.9 for those without training. An inverse relationship was found between job satisfaction and turnover intention (r = -0.76, p < 0.01), with 70% of dissatisfied participants expressing a high intent to leave. Additionally, years of experience positively correlated with job satisfaction (r = 0.48, p < 0.05), and higher qualifications led to greater satisfaction scores. Qualitative feedback corroborated these results, highlighting that ongoing training enhanced educators’ competence and engagement, while the absence of such opportunities contributed to feelings of stagnation. Overall, the findings emphasize the vital role of effective HRM practices in enhancing educator satisfaction and retention within Dehradun's educational institutions.
