THE STRATEGIES FOR DEVELOPING COCOA SUPPLY CHAINS GROWN IN RUBBER PLANTATIONS UPPER NORTHEASTERN PROVINCE GROUP 1

The objectives of this research ware 1) to study the supply chain problems of cocoa grown in rubber plantations of the Upper Northeastern Province Group 1 and 2) to create a strategy for developing the supply chain for cocoa grown in rubber plantations of the Upper Northeastern Province Group 1 was mixed methods research. Dividing the research into 2 phases: phases 1: carries out 2 steps as follows: Step 1, is qualitative research. The informant were 12 experts. The research instrument was a semi-structured interview. Data were analyzed by and summary of the overall picture. Step 2, is quantitative research. The sample group consisted of 400 cocoa farmers. The research instrument was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using frequency statistics, percentages, means, and standard deviations. Phase 2: Determines the strategy for developing; The research was divided into 2 steps as follows: Step 1, Draft a strategy for developing by having a meeting with is 15 experts form purpose sampling. Step 2, Confirm the strategy. The research was quantitative. The population was 30 experts from a group different from those drafting the strategy. The research tool was an assessment on appropriateness and feasibility. Data were analyzed using frequency statistics, percentages, means, and standard deviations. Research results. 1. Problems in developing the cocoa supply chain grown in rubber plantations of the Upper Northeastern Province Group 1 found that 1) materials and equipment for cocoa production, 2) cocoa producers, 3) customers of cocoa products, 4) cocoa cultivation and processing, and 5) cocoa products. 2. Strategy for developing including Strategy 1, Develop cocoa producers to be able to use modern technology to reduce production costs, Strategy 2, Develop the potential of cocoa producers to produce cocoa with quality and standards. Strategy 3, Develop cocoa producers to have knowledge and skills regarding both domestic and 5) international markets. The results of evaluating the appropriateness and feasibility of the strategy passed the evaluation criteria with an average of 3.51 and above in all aspects.
