The drone manufacturing industry is experiencing rapid growth and innovation, with emerging drone technologies and applications ranging from entertainment to mission-critical operations in industrial and military services. While India aspires to become the global drone hub, the United States, China, and Israel have long dominated the international drone market. To achieve this vision, fostering a constructive and supportive drone manufacturing ecosystem is crucial and the drone industry in India can be likened to the Aurora Borealis of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. While Indian drone manufacturing industry is evolving, there is not much academic research study and focus on Indian drone manufacturing ecosystem. So, the research objective is to analyze the key factors driving the emergent drone manufacturing sector, and to explore India’s existing capabilities, research and development initiatives, and government policies aimed at nurturing a robust and sustainable drone manufacturing ecosystem. The ultimate goal is to position India as a global leader in the drone business industry. This research article adopts an exploratory research methodology to study the evolving drone manufacturing industry and conduct a strategic review of India’s drone manufacturing ecosystem. By examining India’s drone manufacturing ecosystem in the context of the broader global landscape, this research article provides strategic insights. It offers guidance for informed decision-making, policy formulation, academic research, economic growth, and technological advancements, paving the way for India to become a prominent drone hub worldwide.
