This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the impact of self-sufficiency approaches on the socioeconomic development of communities in East Africa, with a specific focus on Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan. By employing a comparative methodology, the study delves into the various approaches adopted by these communities and how these approaches have influenced their economic growth, social welfare, and overall development. The paper analyzes key indicators such as GDP growth, poverty reduction rates, and improvements in health and education sectors to provide a holistic view of the relation between self-sufficiency approaches available and practices and then developmental impacts. Furthermore, it discusses the challenges faced in implementing these self-sufficiency approaches, infrastructural limitations, and external economic pressures. Ultimately, this study aims to offer valuable insights into the efficacy of self-sufficiency approaches in promoting socioeconomic development, drawing lessons from the varied experiences of Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan. The findings of this research are intended to inform policy-makers, development practitioners, and scholars in the field of development studies, offering a nuanced understanding of the complexities and potentials of self-sufficiency in the context of East African communities. How Self-Sufficiency Can Act as an Accelerator for Africa’s Socioeconomic Development?
