Abstract

Building consistent hardiness in a complex, dangerous environment, as in Gaza, goes beyond developing resilience and coping strategies, or establishing survival techniques. It is a process that needs to be gauged taking into consideration the type of conflict and struggle in relevance to the issue of Palestine.
This paper explores how to bring all the psychological hardiness characteristics together so that we enhance Gaza Strip Communities in Palestine and further strengthen their flexibility in the face of negative events and spillovers of long-term crises.
Based on the deep literature review and the observation of all the last four wars in Gaza, a scenario for the ‘Hardiness Management & Development Program’ is proposed. The author designs specific hardiness dimensions and constructs that address Gaza’s needs today and in the future. The Implications of the study might help the Palestinians in Gaza, especially, and in all the Palestinian land in general, to mitigate the risks of mental health due to the length of struggle, taking current and coming generations into consideration.
