IMPACT OF YOGA PRACTICE ON WORK-LIFE BALANCE OF WOMEN MANAGERS - A STUDY IN SELECTIVE ORGANISATIONS

Yoga practices can help reduce stress because it promotes relaxation, which is the natural opposite of stress. Regular Yoga practices can benefit three aspects of human being that are often affected by stress of body, mind and breathing. Thus, a systematic yogic practice allows the practitioner to calm the mind and achieve a heightened state of awareness and concentration. It seeks to disseminate yoga techniques for the effective management of personal and professional stress. Today, the majority of employees in managerial level across many organisation, particularly the women, experience stress due to a variety of work-related factors, including long hours of duty, heavy workload, job insecurity and conflicts with coworkers or superiors. A stressful work environment can lead to headaches, stomach aches, sleepless disturbances, irritability and concentration difficulties. Today the entire world believes practice yoga asanas in human life life will help to strengthen body and the practice of dhyana will help to improve our focus which is the most needed for an individual in the modern life. In this purpose a study has been conducted to determine the impact of yoga practices on work-life balance of women managers in selective organisations in Visakhapatnam city. Therefore, a total of 30 women managers were selected from various organisation under purposive sampling method. Hence, the results from the study revealed that practical difficulties in Yoga practice with reference to women mangers required improvement in practical experiences. While this study showed globally good module of Yoga practices with reference to Work Interference with Personal Life (WIPL), Personal Life Interference with Work (PLIW), Work Personal Life Enhancement (WPLE) and Work Life Balance (WLB) for women managers, the results will help the managerial employees in organisations for better initiatives in Yoga practice aimed at improving WLB.
