The Employee Wellness Program (EWP) is a robust scheme for improving physical and psychological health of employees, which leads to an increment in the employee productivity and organizational profitability. It is an essential intervention that enhances the level of motivation of the workers when they feel low. EWP is also an important strategy to retain employees and keep them focused at work. The Footwear Industry of Bangladesh is a visible contributor to GDP and is emerging as an influential segment of the leather sector. Any labor-intensive industry demands welfare-oriented management practice, where EWP could play a pivotal role in excelling in the individual and collective performance of footwear factory workers. This study has attempted to measure the effectiveness of EWP of selected footwear factories broadly in the areas of medical facility, health and hygiene, canteen service quality, employee transportation, personal protective equipment, and employee assistance program. The study conducted a questionnaire survey on 166 footwear factory workers, and their responses were examined using a one-sample "t-test." The study has found the effectiveness of EWP in providing medical services, maintaining health and hygiene, and better management of personal protective equipment. Hence, the sample footwear factories needed to be more vital in providing quality canteen and transport service to the workers. This research work is unique in measuring the effectiveness of EWP in the footwear industries of Bangladesh. The results of this study may contribute to the existing knowledge archive of employee welfare. It may help the welfare officers in designing and facilitating EWP for the continuous development of the footwear sector of Bangladesh.
