Abstract

This study examines the rankings of six agricultural universities on a global scale. The universities analyzed are University of Agricultural Sciences-Bengaluru (QS India rank: 125, NIRF Score: 59.13, National rank: 11, RWWR Indian rank: 252, World rank: 4063), University of Agricultural Sciences-Dharwad (NIRF Score: 50.12, National rank: 24, RWWR Indian rank: 354, World rank: 5109), Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University-Bidar (RWWR Indian rank: 413, World rank: 5936), University of Horticultural Sciences-Bagalkote (RWWR Indian rank: 850, World rank: 11471), University of Agricultural Sciences-Raichur (RWWR Indian rank: 4734, World rank: 28914), and Keladi Shivappa Nayaka University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences-Shivamogga (RWWR Indian rank: 1391, World rank: 15857). Data was collected in August 2024 from various sources. Key parameters for performance improvement in universities include enhancing research output, improving teaching quality, promoting international collaboration, upgrading infrastructure, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship, building reputation, focusing on outcome-based metrics, emphasizing diversity and inclusivity, incorporating student feedback, considering social impact, ensuring transparency and accountability and peer review. Global competitor universities prioritize indicators such as teaching, research, citations, international outlook, industrial income, global research reputation, regional research reputation, publications, international collaboration, graduation outcomes, outreach, inclusivity, perception, visibility/impact, transparency/openness, and excellence. The ranking criteria prioritize universities with a strong online presence and open access initiatives that benefit society and students globally. It evaluates universities' visibility and impact through web indicators, promoting accessibility to scientific publications online. The ranking web uses webometric and bibliometric indicators to assess universities, emphasizing employability, sustainability, academic research, and reputation.
