Abstract

The presence of sulphur and nitrogen atoms in organic molecule changes their behaviour towards metal ions. Azomethines are characterised by the presence of C=N bond and have been found as excellent chelating agent. Among organic chelating agents azomethines are increasingly becoming important day by day because a large number of such compounds and their metal chelates posses appreciable antibacterial, fungicidal, antituberclostic and anticancerous property. The comparative study of antibacterial property of complexes may open a field for pharmacologists to hope and work for some better antibacterial drugs in the interest of mankind.
