Abstract

This study includes the analysis of the meristic and morphometric characters of the Asian Silurid catfish Wallago attu (Bloch and Sneider,1801) which is an critically endangered species in Tripura. For the analysis of morphometric and meristic characters 30 specimens of Wallago attu has been collected from the local fish markets of Agartala, Tripura during the months from 2023 to 2024. In Tripura it is well known as Boal. For the morphometric analysis different lengths of Wallago attu (Bloch & Sneider, 1801) has been considered including total length, head length, dorsal length, pectoral length, pelvic length, caudal length and snout length where the correlation coefficient as well as the regression analysis with the total length is found out, showing the significant value and in the meristic analysis the dorsal fin ray, pectoral fin ray, pelvic, anal and caudal fin ray is studied.
