THE FUTURE OF RETAIL SHOPPING: TRENDS AND PREDICTIONS (2023)

The retail industry is in the middle of a massive revolution triggered by new technologies, changing consumers’ habits, and the latest problems, such as climate change. This paper discusses the various trends of the future of retail, such as omnichannel retailing, personalization, the use of technology such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality, the internet of things, and the use of the blockchain, and the shift to automated and cashless stores. It also considers the emergence of sustainability and how retailers must adapt to consumers’ ever-rising demands. This paper established the following trends and discussed them with examples that may be useful to retailers to understand how they should operate in the current and future retail environment.
